About the work

Kevin Ryan "My work is concerned with the landscape, where man has in some way intruded upon it. In particular I am looking at the way the landscape has been affected by agriculture, industry or recreation. Here in Norfolk, some of the crop fields contain areas planted with maize or sunflowers for game-bird conservation. These produce interesting shapes and textures within the larger areas of wheat or barley."

...these contrasting patterns in the landscape are stimulants in my painting...

"For the same reason I find hedgerows interesting, and I like the verticals of trees and telegraph poles. I find all these contrasting patterns in the landscape are stimulants in my painting."
